NewsIn Wsola: Machalica and more…

2014-01-12
“ Lyrical Tuwim and more”- that was the title of the event, which with the date of 12th January Witold Gombrowicz Museum inaugurated another year of activity. The texts of Julian Tuwim were interpreted by Piotr Machalica and Piotr Borowski, accompanied by the pianist Agnieszka Garniewicz and the music of Zygmunt Konieczny.

Meeting with the work of Julian Tuwim referred to the tradition of the “postchristmas concerts” in Wsola that are held on the second Sunday of January since 5 years. This time it was a double “post” because Julian Tuwim was a patron of the previous year which marked the sixtieth anniversary of the poet’s death. The performance was truly Tuwim’s- moody and lyrical, but also wickedly smart and harmonious. That is not a surprise because Tuwim is not the only one of the largest Polish lyric poets. He is also a man endowed with a great sense of humour and a wise distance to the world, who wrote on the café napkin at the last day of his life- as it turned out- his last sentence: “ For economic reasons, I recommend to put out the light of the eternal…”.
